In most cases, the first tests will include things like blood work. Then, the doctor will want to rule out any physical conditions that may be stopping you from being able to conceive. Remember, this will be necessary for both the mother and the father. The next step in the process is testing out your hormones. Since hormones control so much of the process of fertility, it is almost always an important consideration when trying to become pregnant. Although most do not realize it, hormones are one of the primary causes of infertility. Hormone testing will likely take about a month because it is necessary to determine what is happening at each moment of your cycle. When this is completed, the doctor will consider what is happening. He or she may find that you are not ovulating or that you are ovulating at the wrong time. Once the testing is done, you and your doctor will sit down and work through a mapping of what is to come next. What is it that they want to do and how will the process work? Often, there is a need for you to improve your lifestyle and to eat well. Then, there may be medications and supplements to take. But, remember, your road is likely to be much different than the road of anyone else. |
